Official 292 Rides and Meetings / June Chapter 292 meeting

We plan to hold the June Chapter 292 meeting at Rick and Kim's back yard on Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 am. If the weather is wet we will try for Sunday, June 7. If Saturday and Sunday are both wet we will try for June 14.

I spoke with the City Clerk and Buena Vista Park is closed. No estimate on when it will reopen. I will consider alternate destinations.

I'm pretty sure there was a Closed sign for Buena Vista Park when we rode by last Thursday (8 days ago).  I don't know why it was closed or for how long, and in 8 days from now it may be back open.  You may want to have a backup destination in mind.  The forecast looks great; you've picked a nice day!

Meet at The Point at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 16. We will maintain Social Distancing there and at all stops. We'll ride the Welch Road and other backroads to Wabasha, cross the river, down to Alma and up to Buena Vista Park. Bring a sandwich or some snacks to eat at the park since we can't stop at a restaurant. You might want to bring a separate pair of gloves to use at gas pumps, and a face mask for going inside.

More has happened since I last posted on this forum just yesterday morning. The Governor closed all restaurants and bars, the CDC issued new guidelines for social distancing, and the President held a press conference this morning. As much as I would like to keep some normalcy in our lives I think it is best if we cancel our March meeting. Stay safe everyone.

In case anyone is wondering so far I'm still planning on holding our March meeting as scheduled. We're a small group and I think we need to maintain some forms of normalcy. Don't show up if you're feeling sick.

Unofficial Rides & Events / Eau Claire WI overnight

The planned dates for the Eau Claire, WI trip have been changed from July 18-20 to July 25-27 because music festivals had filled up all hotel rooms. Here is the new info:

Arrive Saturday July 25 for two nights departing Monday, July 27.
A block of rooms has been created under the name "Star 292", and I was told the group rate is better than any individual discounted rates (AAA, AARP, etc).

The plan is to select routes from the riding magazine that Clint and Brian shared at our February meeting and ride as much of them as we can on Saturday afternoon, Sunday, and Monday on the way home. For those who do not want to stay two nights, this plan will work for those who want to make it a long day trip, or a one-night, weekend-only trip.
